Angelichio has spent the last four years as the Minnesota Vikings’ passing game coordinator and tight ends coach, where he helped shape the Vikings’ aerial approach and TE development.
Previously, he served as the Green Bay Packers’ tight ends coach from 2016-2018, working under head coach Mike McCarthy during that period.
Two sources—NFL insider Mark Kaboly and Steelers Now’s Harry Psaros—reported on Tuesday night that the two sides were close to finalizing the agreement, with Kaboly noting the deal was “nearing” and Psaros indicating Angelichio appears to be the next Steelers OC.
The reporting also highlights Angelichio’s Pittsburgh connections, including time spent at Pitt and a track record of developing players who advanced to the NFL.
If finalized, the hire would add a veteran coach with experience in coordinating a passing game and developing tight ends, as the Steelers look to solidify their offensive identity.
