The Patriots’ second-year quarterback has been dealing with a shoulder injury since last week and appeared on the Jan. 30 injury report, listed as not practicing due to the shoulder and an illness. He was officially listed as questionable for the Super Bowl after the first week of injury reports, but his Monday remarks offered promising optimism about his availability.
On the main stage with Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, Maye emphasized that he’s “feeling great” and “100%,” reinforcing the idea that he expects to be ready for kickoff.
Maye also credited a turning point during travel to San Francisco, saying the flight to the Bay Area helped his recovery. “I turned a corner landing on the flight,” he said, noting improved comfort and confidence as two weeks to prepare for the game approaches.
Statistically, Maye enjoyed a standout 2025 season, completing 72% of his passes for 4,394 yards and 31 touchdowns with eight interceptions. In the playoffs, he’s completing 55.8% of passes for 533 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions, underscoring the high-impact performance he has shown all year.
Patriots coach Mike Vrabel reiterated that the team isn’t overly concerned about the shoulder, explaining that had Maye practiced, he would have been limited on Friday, and that illness prevented practice. Vrabel stressed that New England expects full preparation and availability by week’s end, with all hands on deck for the Super Bowl against Seattle’s top-ranked defense.
The Patriots face a Seahawks defense that has been effective in recent playoff wins, while New England must balance improvement on offense after a challenging showing against the Broncos in the AFC Championship. Maye’s health and readiness will be pivotal as New England looks to exploit Seattle’s defensive strengths in a high-stakes Super Bowl matchup.
