Las Vegas officials traveled to Seattle on Saturday to interview Kubiak for the top post, and he also met with the Arizona Cardinals during the process. The multiple interviews reinforced the Raiders’ interest in him as their top candidate.
Following those meetings, Pelissero indicated the decision is effectively in place on the Raiders’ side, with Kubiak expressing enthusiasm for the opportunity. While the contract is not yet official, the move appears to be moving toward completion.
Official signing, however, must wait until after the Seahawks’ Super Bowl appearance, a timing matter common when a candidate is tied to a team in the title game. The Raiders will likely proceed toward a formal agreement once Seattle’s season is finished.
Kubiak’s work this season helped Seattle boast one of the league’s more productive offenses and reach the Super Bowl. If the hire is finalized, he would be tasked with turning around a Raiders offense that has struggled in recent years.
