DeBoer started all 54 games last season, leading Washington in batting average (.358), hits (58), home runs (21), RBIs (55) and slugging percentage (.815). She became the second UW freshman to reach 20 homers and posted 16 multi-hit games, 12 multi-RBI performances, and a 13-game RBI streak, while recording a .991 fielding percentage.
In addition to the Big Ten accolade, DeBoer has earned national recognition, including a place on USA Softball’s Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List. She and Glab have also been identified by D1Softball and Softball America as top overall and top-position players, underscoring their impact on the UW lineup.
DeBoer’s path to prominence began in Carbondale, Illinois, where she started learning softball at age six. Her father, Kalen DeBoer, has long influenced her development, guiding a peripatetic coaching career that required her to adapt and persist, even as the family moved frequently before settling in Seattle for Alexis’s Washington tenure. Her success has been framed as a personal, self-made ascent.
Behind DeBoer’s rise is a supportive family dynamic—Kalen and his wife Nicole, along with Alexis’s younger sister Avery, have made efforts to attend games and stay connected from miles away. Alexis emphasizes that her achievements have been her own, a sentiment echoed by her coaches, and she continues to carry that focus into her sophomore season as Washington builds on last year’s breakout performance.
