Webb’s decision to withdraw was reported by Schefter, who noted Webb intends to pursue an offensive coordinator role elsewhere. While the exact reason wasn’t disclosed, the move is viewed as a possible signal that Webb saw Kubiak as the preferred option in Las Vegas.
With Webb out of the running, the Raiders appear all-in on Kubiak. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that Las Vegas plans to interview Kubiak over the weekend and then decide, with one candidate predicting that “it’s probably (Kubiak’s) job to lose.”
The Arizona Cardinals are also expected to interview Kubiak, but Las Vegas has a more appealing opening thanks to the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Still, the Raiders will remain anxious until an official agreement can be reached.
Until the post-Super Bowl window opens for formal offers, nothing about the hire is official, and the team’s next steps will hinge on the timing of those post-season discussions.
Kubiak, the Seahawks’ offensive coordinator, would bring experience coordinating a pro-style attack, while Webb’s background as a quarterbacks coach would have represented a different path to the top job. Time will tell if the move to Kubiak proves to be the right call.
