Sidney, a Goodyear, Arizona product, has long prioritized Fisch and his circuitry with offensive staffers, dating back to eighth grade when Fisch and Kevin Cummings first offered him. The relationship has only grown since, with Sidney highlighting the personal bond he shares with Fisch and Cummings as a major factor in his decision.
“The relationship I had with the coaches … when I was in eighth grade they were my first offer,” Sidney recalled, underscoring how familiarity with Fisch’s program remains a throughline in his recruitment. He also cited the Huskies’ track record for developing receivers as a key reason for his comfort with the choice.
In Washington’s pursuit, Sidney chose the Huskies over heavyweights such as Oklahoma, Arizona State and USC. The 6-foot, 180-pound target said several factors aligned for him with the UW staff, including the opportunity to learn from a receivers group that has produced NFL-caliber talents in recent years.
Sidney’s production and pedigree add to the UW class narrative. He starred for Desert Edge, helping lead the squad to the 5A Arizona state championship as a sophomore, with 45 receptions for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns. An injury limited his junior year to four games (11 receptions, 111 yards), but his size, route-running ability and upside remain appealing to recruiters. This commitment marks a notable milestone for Fisch’s return era and the Huskies’ evolving recruiting momentum. This is a developing story.
