Rhodes, ranked No. 3 at his position and No. 42 overall in the 2028 class by Rivals, chose OU over multiple Power Five programs. He described his commitment as a strong foundation for building the roster and noted his plan to serve as a peer recruiter for the Sooners.
The Klein Oak (Texas) standout boasts a standout sophomore season in 2025, piling up 1,309 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns, earning First-Team All-District honors and a spot on the MaxPreps Sophomore All-America First Team. He joins a growing OU pipeline at running back, with DeMarco Murray’s influence central to his decision.
Rhodes already has his sights on luring top targets to Norman, including Cypress Ranch’s five-star offensive tackle R’Monie Edwards, the No. 1 OT in the 2028 class. Edwards, who hails from Texas and holds roughly two dozen offers, has ON3 RPM projections showing Nebraska as a current favorite (about 48%), with Baylor also in the mix.
The commitment from Rhodes provides Oklahoma with a solid early building block for 2028 and reinforces momentum for Brent Venables’ recruiting push. Rhodes’ relationship with Murray dates back to eighth grade, and he says OU felt like family, a key factor as he aims to contribute on the field early and help attract more top talent to Norman.
