Packers add 2 coaches poached from Jeff Hafley’s Dolphins

Hafley’s Dolphins have expanded their first coaching staff by adding two more Packers assistants, joining earlier hires of Sean Duggan and Ryan Downard. Defensive quality control coach Wendel Davis and defensive passing game coordinator Derrick Ansley are slated to be part of Miami’s new regime, per multiple league sources.

Davis, the Packers’ defensive quality control coach, is expected to join the Dolphins, according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson.

Ansley, the Packers’ defensive passing game coordinator, is exiting Green Bay after the team hired Bobby Babich to the same title, per Wilson’s reporting.

Pelissero later confirmed Babich’s hiring as the Packers’ defensive pass game coordinator/secondary coach, replacing Ansley in that role.

With Ansley’s departure and Babich’s arrival, Green Bay is set to replace multiple defensive assistants as Matt LaFleur reshapes his 2026 staff, after already adding Babich to the coaching group.

Green Bay has also announced Jonathan Gannon as its next defensive coordinator, a development that aligns with the ongoing rebuilding of the Packers’ defensive staff.

The Dolphins’ ongoing staff-building under Hafley continues to lean on Green Bay’s recent coaching corps, marking a notable cross-pollination between the two franchises.
