The Las Vegas Raiders’ head-coaching search has narrowed after Joe Brady left for Buffalo and Mike McDaniel agreed to become the Los Angeles Chargers’ offensive coordinator, leaving a single candidate widely favored to emerge from the field.
Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has cemented his status as a top candidate after his unit put up 31 points to beat the Rams and reach the Super Bowl, showcasing the offensive mind the Raiders are seeking.
Las Vegas has already conducted a virtual interview with Kubiak and could meet with him again before the Super Bowl, with SNY’s Connor Hughes reporting that Kubiak is the frontrunner for the job.
Beyond Kubiak, the Raiders reportedly still weigh Davis Webb and Brian Daboll in the mix, while several sources have connected Matt LaFleur with the Cardinals as another possible front-runner.
A key selling point for Kubiak is the Raiders’ No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, which would align with his preferred offensive approach and the potential selection of Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza.
Tom Brady, minority owner of the Raiders, watched the NFC Championship on FOX and observed Kubiak’s playcalling up close, adding context to the pursuit. If the Raiders secure a verbal commitment soon, they could move quickly; otherwise, Kubiak could pursue a patient path, similar to Ben Johnson’s timeline.
