According to PHLY’s Kyle Neubeck, Embiid reported the soreness following the Heat game, and the Sixers noted that his medical evaluation is ongoing. Embiid had earlier appeared to deal with discomfort in the first half of that contest, briefly returning to the locker room before rejoining the game.
In the game against Miami, Embiid finished with 26 points on 40% shooting, adding 11 rebounds and four assists in 31 minutes. He delivered a late dagger three to help Philadelphia seal a 124-117 victory.
The Sixers have not announced an official status for Embiid’s potential activity against the Boston Celtics on March 1. The team indicated that his status would be determined after further evaluation with the medical staff.
Embiid has been coping with multiple injuries this season, including persistent knee soreness and a shin-related setback, with this latest issue adding to a growing list of recent ailments as Philadelphia prepares for the upcoming road trip to Boston. The Celtics game is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on March 1.
