Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is expected to depart, and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees has already left for the Atlanta Falcons. In addition, special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone could be headed for the exit as well, with the Rams reportedly seeking to interview him for their own special teams job.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that Los Angeles has requested an interview with Ventrone, a well-regarded figure in league special teams circles. Ventrone’s future with the Browns appears uncertain, and he is not expected to remain on Monken’s staff.
All three coordinators may need replacing as Monken starts to assemble his coaching staff. While it’s common for a new head coach to bring in his own people, Monken may not have a clean slate to work with, as Schwartz and Ventrone appear poised to move on and Rees is already out the door.
Monken’s arrival comes with added pressure to stabilize a coaching staff that is already in flux. The Browns face a difficult offseason as they search for defensive, offensive, and special teams coordinators who can align with Monken’s vision and build consistency for 2026.
As Monken begins assembling his staff, further updates are expected on potential candidates and interviews across the league. The Browns’ ability to replace three coordinators and implement a cohesive system will be a key storyline throughout the offseason.
